ENGINEER IT! Exploring Ancient Technologies

Build a shelter, design a boat, weave a basket, or invent a tool! Native Americans have long used science and engineering to develop tools, homes, clothing, cooking methods, and more—passing this knowledge down through generations. Many of these innovations are still being used today! Try out your own engineering skills while discovering technologies designed by Oregon’s first engineers. 

The Coos Bay Public Library will offer a bilingual Make and Take Kit designed by the University of Oregon's Museum of Natural History and Culture beginning Monday, November 8.  Each kit includes materials for an interactive hands-on engineering challenge for families and kids to work on at home.  Museum educators created a video about the program to supplement the program at https://vimeo.com/470367717. 

All kit materials are offered in Spanish and English.  Kits will be available while supplies last.
